Maui- Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

Not enough can be said about the fine resort we stayed at in Maui. This is not a paid endorsement, but Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa (Oceanfront) at Ka’anapali Beach was perfect in every way. Upon check-in we were greeted and handled by the courteous staff. They asked what the occasion for our visit was and we told them that it was a celebration of our 10 years of marriage. They passed on their congratulations and assured us that a complimentary bottle of champagne would be sent our way; we were grateful for the gesture.

Our room was stunning. It had everything you’d want, including robes! Our partial ocean view room had a small balcony where we spent several nights enjoying an intimate drink, and conversation, with the white noise of the waves.

The restaurants at the resort were also special. We took breakfast one morning at the Swan Court Breakfast spot. The buffet was bountiful and delicious, and the exposed eating area was a sight to behold. The small pond adjacent to the restaurant with the exposed seating allows guests to keep the outdoor life (swans, pond, and beach) in view while enjoying the breakfast and fresh Kona coffee. The breakfast was pricey, but one that had to be enjoyed at least once during our stay. At the Sonz Steakhouse for dinner, which was the same location where the Swan Court Breakfast was offered, we enjoyed a bottle of red wine and steak . This was a late dinner scheduled on the same day as our Road to Hana expedition. The waiter allowed us to enjoy our time in the restaurant with minimal interruptions which is something we always appreciate. The meal was perfect especially after our exhausting day traversing the twists and turns along the Road to Hana.

After check-in, we waited at the poolside bar -  'Ūmalu - until our room was ready and ordered a delicious lunch and drinks as we took in the sights. The pool was magnificent and expansive and the beach was just a few strides away. We were also given official hotel water bottles. In an attempt to cut back on plastic waste, the hotel offered water refill stations throughout the campus. This was a convenient and more environmentally friendly way of having water throughout our stay.

It would be nearly impossible to pick our “favorite part” of the resort, but the Grotto swim-up bar would definitely be at the top of our list. The waterfall entry from the main pool allows guests to enter a cave style bar where you can swim over and then walk up and order drinks or food. There were also daily drink specials. The Mai Tai served in the pineapple was a popular, but expensive choice. The authentic island drink was served with a Red Alaea sea salt for dipping fruit into. The Red Alaea sea salt was brand new to us and felt traditional to the Hawaiin culture.

On our last full day at the resort we indulged in a massage at the Kamaha'o Marilyn Monroe Spa. The peaceful ambience of the spa was inviting. We were offered a clean and secure area to change into robes. Drinks and snacks were provided in the lounge area as we waited for our masseuse to be ready for us. The massage tables were located outside, on a covered terrace, where we could hear the waves crashing as we enjoyed our massage. The spa is located along the beach, away from the hustle and bustle of the resort’s pools and restaurants; it’s a beautiful design. It was a nice get away that didn’t require transportation, just a short walk.
